In the conscience of the Orthodox Faithful the Virgin Mary, the Theotokos, is established as an intercessor and protectress. In times of difficulty it is to Her, the Mother of all, that we run for refuge.
The love of the Orthodox Faithful for the Virgin Mary is also evident in the many names given to the Theotokos. One such new name is ‘Bride of God and Protectress of Marriage’.
His Eminence our Archbishop Stylianos has called upon all the Orthodox Faithful to come together before the new icon of the ‘Bride of God and Protectress of Marriage’ to pray, ‘that the Most Holy Theotokos protect Marriage, the Family and the future of all the faithful of the Church.’
This service of the Supplication to the Most Holy Theotokos will be celebrated on:
Sunday 17 September 2017
at the Greek Orthodox Parish of Saint Nicholas
203-207 Livingstone Rd Marrickville,
His Grace Bishop Iakovos of Miletoupolis.
It will be a great blessing for all families to come together to celebrate the arrival of the icon of the Most Holy Theotokos, the ‘Bride of God and Protectress of Marriage’ and to pray the Supplication Service beseeching Her, in view of the plebiscite, to protect marriage, family and the future of our children.
